Christmas Shopping for the Shooter

December 2nd, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in News

Your shooting range is well stocked for the Christmas season, with gifts from a few dollars to a few thousand! We have some very nice embroidered pistol rugs, and we can personalize these with the recipient’s name embroidered on it for a truly one-of-a-kind gift. Rifle & shotgun bags are a nice gift, flashlights are low priced but highly valued, and our Leatherman tools and SpyderCo knives are always appreciated. Cleaning kits, holsters, mag pouches are another idea for the shooter.

The newer style “MSR’s”, or Modern Sporting Rifles, are very popular this year. We’ve been selling quite a few of these chambered in .22, but we have them in .223 and other calibers as well. Revolvers and pistols are available, and don’t forget gift cards. With a gift card, your friend or loved on can pay for guns, classes, instruction, DROS fees, or any other item we sell here at the range.

Thinking of a .22 rifle, or .410 shotgun, for a youth shooter for Christmas? The last day to purchase a gun and actually be able to have it under the tree on Christmas Day is December 12th!

We’ll be open from 8 am till 8 pm Monday through Saturday until Christmas, and we’ll even be open every Sunday noon till 6 pm, but we’ll close early on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve (closed Christmas & New Year’s Days).

Long Gun Registration Begins in California

December 2nd, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in News

Be ready for Long Gun registration, starting January 1st! Until now, when you purchased a rifle of shotgun, the state did not keep a record of your purchase after you passed the background check. However, the Democrat-led state legislature passed a new law beginning this January 1st, where the state will now keep a permanent record of the serial numbers of the long guns you buy, just like the handguns have had for the past several years. If you want another long gun, but don’t want the state to know about it, you have to purchase the gun before December 16th (to allow for the waiting period)! If you’ve been on the fence about this, now’s the time to buy and still be able to maintain your privacy! (Of course, our local legislators, V. Manuel Perez and Juan Vargas, voted in favor of this new law. Merry Christmas).

Another new law starting January 1st allows the state to raid the fund established for DROS fees (the fee you pay to register your gun with the state), and use that fund for general state expenses. This means the fee to register a gun in California will get more and more expensive every year, so purchase your firearms sooner, rather than later. This long gun registration program is the exact duplicate of the Canada long gun registration, that after ten years and two billion dollars, never solved a single crime. Canada finally scrapped that program earlier this year.

Women On Target Program Coming Up

December 2nd, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in Classes

Our last Women on Target program was a raging success! 16 ladies finished the beginning handgun shooting class, taught by our ace instructors Kris and Karen. The students, ranging in age from 16 to 66, had fun, learned all about handgun safety and marksmanship, and range ettiquette. You’ll likely see these women at the range now, because every one of them let us know they highly enjoyed the experience, and would recommend it to a friend. Watch our facebook page, follow us on twitter, and check the “events” section of the website to find out the details of the class.
